Here is the article:

13 End Times Errors to Avoid

I appreciate the quote from one of the greatest preachers in the last 100 years:

“The great doctrine of the second advent has in a sense fallen into disrepute because of . . . this tendency on the part of some to be more interested in the how and the when of the second coming rather than in the fact of the second coming.” – Martyn Lloyd-Jones

Daniel’s 70 Weeks (Daniel 9:24-27)

1. What are the 70 weeks?

The 70 weeks are literally 70 sevens. 70 and 7 are both numbers of completeness in Scripture, when multiplied together the number is the ultimate completeness. An example is found in Mat. 18:22 on the number of times to forgive. This is not interpreted literally 490 times. The time decreed is not literally 490 years but “70 times 7” to accomplish the God’s purpose. God will bring in the New Covenant to bring about a people who are holy and righteous, this will take more than a literal 490 years.

2. The purpose of the 70 weeks are 6-fold (v24) : 1) To finish the transgression 2) to put an end to sin 3) to atone for iniquity 4) to bring in everlasting righteousness 5) to seal both vision and prophet 6) to anoint a most holy place (literally anoint a most holy). (more…)

Everyone Loves a Happy Ending

tumblr_mjxyd4eidF1r0bovho1_1280The other day my wife and I were watching a TV series that we have grown to enjoy. I casually thought out loud “I wonder how it will end?” I wondered if they would kill off the main character. Would they have him ride off into the sunset? What about the other characters in the series? For shock value perhaps they would try to kill off some of the more popular characters. I don’t know and honestly I hope that season is a long ways off. It always seems like when I find a series I enjoy, that I discover it about two seasons before it ends.  (more…)

Reformed Amillennialism’s Perspective on the Doctrine of Antichrist

lastjudgmentmichSome of the Reformed Amillennialists (RA) would be Geerhardus Vos, Anthony Hoekema, and Kim Riddlebarger.

The timing of Antichrist Appearing:

RAs hold that many antichrist which are false teachers, will appear. They will appear thought the course of this age. This age is described as the entire period of time between the Ascension and 2nd Coming of Jesus. Many RAs will hold that there will however be a final Antichrist that is yet to come. This will not have to be a person but would be a large heresy that would be state sponsored and result in the mass persecution of the Church at large.

A distince emphasis is that they see the temple mentiond by Paul in 2 Thessalonians 2:4 is a reference to the Church not the Jerusalem temple.  (more…)

The Antichrist and the Man of Lawlessness

The question was asked “Who is the Man of Lawlessness”? To answer the question I first turn to the apostle John:

1 John 2:18-19 Children, it is the last hour, and as you have heard that  antichrist is coming, so now many antichrists have come. Therefore we know that it is the last hour. They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us. But they went out, that it might become plain that they all are not of us.

Richard B. Gaffin Jr. – Redemption and Resurrection: An Exercise in Biblical-Systematic Theology

Reading”Redemption and Resurrection: An Exercise in Biblical-Systematic Theology”,  A Confessing Theology for Postmodern Times

The longest single continuous treatment of the Resurrection in Paul is 1 Corinthians 15….he affirms that Christ in his resurrection is the first fruits of those who are fallen asleep. This declaration expresses a key thought, one that governs not only much of the argument from verse 12 to the end of the chapter but in large measure, Paul’s teaching as a whole on resurrection. – p. 232
